New Jersey Summary

September 14-23, 2003

New Jersey is a bit that you have to sail on the outside. New Jersey Intracostal is a very shallow waterway where bridges hang low, so most cruisers sail from New York Harbor or nearby Sandy Hook Bay over to Manasquan Inlet or go overnight towards Atlantic City. Hurricane Season is at its peak in September and we were waiting for Hurricane Isabel to blow over. Even more fierce than hurricanes are some insecure security thugs in Atlantic Highlands Marina, but we survived their rudeness all the same. Day before Isabel was expected to make her appearance we evacuated from the seas seeking shelter somewhere on land. You would think we were safe at last, but read on and find out why Johannes slept with pocket knife clutched in his hands...
